Firstly thank you to everyone who has taken the time to visit this page.
I am a newly married, 28 year old woman, who has made it her aim to run two marathons, the Virgin London Marathon and Prague Marathon, in 2011 raising £2,000 for local Rotherhithe charity, The Dockland Settlements, which is dedicated to the improving the lives of those living in the Rotherhithe and Stratford by providing community services in deprived areas via its three dedicated centres. Dockland Settlements work within these communities offering breakfast and after-school clubs, pre-school childcare, youth work, counselling, IT training, organised sports and social activities to low-income families and the elderly.
I created this blog as a diary of my training for each of these events, the first being the Virgin London Marathon. I have been running for a little over a year now, having started as part of a ‘team bonding’ exercise with my colleagues. Once I had taken part in my first 5k race I was hooked and quickly went on to complete several further 5ks, 10ks and a half marathon. It has been my aim since starting running to take part in the VLM, so to have the opportunity to take part on my first year upon entering is a dream come true.
The second race is the Volkswagen Prague Marathon on May 8th 2011. For this race, I will be joined by my husband Alex, who is making his marathon debut.
With £1,300 to raise for the VLM alone, donations are welcomed. Please help us make a difference by donating via Just Giving, remember every penny counts, so please give what you can and help provide much needed services to people of all ages across South East London: http://www.justgiving.com/victoria-wood1
