Run Vic Run

Post-Christmas update

Sorry for the lack of posts over Christmas, Birmingham had over 8 inches of snow which impeded running to a certain extent. Happy to be back in snow free London and able to properly run again.

Alex and I had a great run yesterday, after completing two four milers this week, we have made it up to 5.2 yesterday, a new record for Alex (@lexplex_ on Twitter), I am so very proud of him.

We took an interesting route yesterday, sort of all around the houses so to speak, we went through Lewisham right up to Greenwich then down several back roads to Canada Water. We kept the pace varied for some light speed training, but averaged out about 4.5mph, so about marathon pace.

We are currently using a program called ‘GPS Pro to track our runs, which while neither of us has a Garmin, at least gives us some stats to work with. You can view our exact run here:

Name: Riverside Run to Greenwich

Date: 2 Jan 2011 5:56 pm

Distance:5.24 miles

Elapsed Time: 1:10:28

Avg Speed: 4.5 mph

Max Speed: 11.5 mph

Avg Pace: 13′ 28″ per mile

I received my VLM marathon pack this week, I’m now officially running. I am excited about starting to fundraise, yet a little nervous. I know £2,000 is a lot of money to raise, but I am sure we can reach our target if we put in lots of effort, it’s such a worthy cause. As Alex is running the Prague Marathon, he too is starting to look for sponsors, all of the funds raised go towards The Dockland Settlements, so whether you are sponsoring me for the London Marathon or sponsoring Alex or I for Prague, all funds raised will go straight to our elected charity via our Just Giving page: http://www.justgiving.com/Victoria-Wood1

Rest day today, but another five miles planned for tomorrow. No rest for the training!
