Amazing work by Sacha Goldberger - “I wanted to show the difference between our natural and brute side versus how we represent ourselves to society,” Goldberger tells us. “The difference was very surprising.”

Prague Marathon
I always thought running my first marathon would be fairly easy, after all I’d done the training - how hard can be it be? The answer is very. Signing on the dotted line for the Prague Marathon, we touched down in the city two days before the race full of hope and excitement for the race ahead.
Having been to Prague on holiday in 2009, I had a fair idea of what to expect in terms of route, or so I...

Serpentine Running Club
It’s hard to review the Serpentine Running Club fairly as this was my first time running with the club and I was late leaving work meaning I had five minutes to get changed before setting off for the planned route (or should I say missing the start of the run and running half blind in the dark around Hyde Park until I eventually caught up with the slower runners of the pack).
The club...

So it’s week three of being a member of the Mornington Crescent Chasers. This week, I decided to try out to ‘gentle joggers’ group with my friend and colleague Suzanne who joined the club last week. The session started out very slowly with literally some very gentle jogging, the name does not lie. Deciding to step it up a notch, Suze and I picked up the pace to join the 9min...

Mornington Crescent Chasers
Joining a running club in a new area can be daunting even if you are a regular runner, so when I moved down to London only to find more running clubs in one area than there was in Manchester and Leeds combined, suffice it to say it was hard to narrow it down.
I decided that it made sense to find a club close to work as most seem to start at 7pm and with tube being as reliable as ever, it was...

Sorry for the lack of updates, running has been hit and miss lately due to illness. Plan is to get right back on track on Monday though as the marathon isn’t far away at all now. Resting up this weekend, but training five days a week is a must from now on until April! X

10 min speed session complete. Hoping to get 4 miles in tomorrow morning before work.
Training going well, 5 miles to do tomorrow and maybe a gym session too. Starting the fundraising campaign full this weekend, so keep an eye out!
Rest day
Well, today has not done as planned. Both Alex and I feel totally drained so swapping tomorrow’s day off for today. This means I am going to have to get the miles in tomorrow. Thinking of splitting it, two miles at lunch, six in the evening. It’s a good excuse to get out of the office too and refresh the mind. Off to pack my running kit!
5 miler done
Tonight Alex and I ran 5.3 miles from Canada Water to just past Tower Bridge and back. Lovely run and Tower Bridge looked gorgeous. Tomorrow’s run includes: warm up pace for five miles with 3 x timed fast pace 1 mile reps. Need to work out a suitable route. Yes, we did swap around the Tuesday/Wednesday workouts I posted yesterday, but so long as we get the miles in it’s all good.

Post-Christmas update
Sorry for the lack of posts over Christmas, Birmingham had over 8 inches of snow which impeded running to a certain extent. Happy to be back in snow free London and able to properly run again.
Alex and I had a great run yesterday, after completing two four milers this week, we have made it up to 5.2 yesterday, a new record for Alex (@lexplex_ on Twitter), I am so very proud of him.
We took an...
The adventure begins
I was really upset when I received that letter that we all dread when signing up for the Virgin London Marathon (VLM) ballot: REJECTED. Still I thought, there is always next year, not really daring to consider that I stood any chance of securing myself a charity spot. This month though, as the marathon draws nearer and 2010 comes to a close, I couldn’t help but wonder if there was still a...
